The central works council of the automotive supplier ZF has announced resistance against the group's planned job cuts.

"We will fight for every single job," said ZF works council chief Achim Dietrich in Friedrichshafen. The announcement stirs fears "where we actually need full commitment to supply customers, cope with the recession, and manage the transformation".

Grim Outlook for Locations and Employees

The plans diverted attention from managerial failure, said Dietrich.

"The ZF Board has decided against the future of locations and thousands of employees in Germany and will face fierce resistance for it."

The automotive supplier ZF announced that it plans to cut between 11,000 and 14,000 jobs in Germany by the end of 2028. For this, ZF is planning to establish several location networks with leaner structures. The extent to which reductions are planned at the locations will now be specified.

More than 50,000 employees in Germany

"The reduction should be carried out as socially responsible as possible by utilizing the demographic structure of the workforce and the turnover,"

the company stated. Currently, 54,000 people are employed by ZF in Germany.
