ZF plans modular electric drive kit for buses and trucks
By 2023 at the latest, ZF will build a modular electric drive kit with axle and central drives for buses and trucks up to 44 tons. Like other e-systems from the southern German group, this will be technology-neutral, meaning it can be combined with batteries, fuel cells, or overhead lines for buses. For efficient operation, the drives are always available as a system with tailored inverters and control units (ECU).
CeTrax with up to 300 kW power
The motorization is achieved with the electric axle AxTrax AVE, which has been on the market for several years, and the electric central drive CeTrax, which will start series production this year. It covers a range from small distribution trucks to large city buses, specifically for urban applications. The most powerful variant delivers 300 kW of power and 4,500 Nm of torque. CeTrax can be installed in vehicle platforms according to the plug-and-drive principle, facilitating the transition from combustion engines to electric motors.
