ZF and CarPay-Diem announce a strategic investment by ZF, which solidifies CarPay-Diem's leading position in the mobile refueling market. Thanks to this investment, ZF further expands its service offering for fleets. According to Phillippe Colpron, Head of ZF Aftermarket and Executive Vice President of ZF Group, the Friedrichshafen-based company is once again underlining its role as a pioneer in the aftermarket, advancing future-oriented digital solutions and thus supporting vehicles throughout their entire lifecycle.

"With the investment, we are expanding our strategic partner network and enabling our customers to manage their fleets even more efficiently: They can further optimize their costs and significantly reduce their ecological footprint," comments Colpron. "For ZF, the investment in a digital fueling and payment system is a significant addition to the already active data sources that we analyze accordingly to develop further valuable services for our fleet customers together with our partners."

Refueling….

The platform for mobile refueling, CarPay-Diem, was developed by the Luxembourg-based company Kwalyo and has handled more than 3 million mobile refueling transactions since its launch in 2019. In addition to supporting fuel station operators and card providers, the company also aids OEMs and other mobility app providers in their digitalization initiatives.

....and Charging

CarPay-Diem is currently building the largest European network of fuel stations and e-charging stations for mobile transactions. The application is integrated into the vehicle's infotainment system and allows the driver to refuel without leaving the vehicle. ZF's investment contributes to CarPay-Diem's technology taking a leading position on the path to the next generation of refueling. With integration into ZF's telematics solutions, thousands of connected vehicles will be able to activate fuel pumps and e-charging stations using the digital refueling solution.

"The digitalization of the fuel industry and the charging of electric vehicles are essential to accelerate the energy transition," explains Frédéric Stiernon, Chief Executive Officer of Kwalyo. "We are proud to share this view with our partner. ZF provides CarPay-Diem access to thousands of connected vehicles across Europe, which will realize significant cost savings thanks to the profitable combination of ZF telematics and CarPay-Diem solutions."

What does this mean?

Fleets are facing a multitude of challenges in a rapidly changing world. The integration of the mobile refueling solution and payment from the connected vehicle not only increases driver convenience, but can also offer fleet managers immediate transparency of fuel costs and higher operational efficiency. This is also possible for the operation of mixed fleets (electric vehicles and combustion engines), making it an important support for a smooth transition to a fully electric fleet.
