XPeng G6: Five stars in the 2024 Euro NCAP crash test

The still young SUV Coupe G6 is the latest electric vehicle that Xpeng has also been offering in Germany for a few weeks now at a price of 43,600 euros gross. It has now been officially crash-tested for the first time - and it impressed! The five-star safety rating from Euro NCAP sets the standard for vehicle safety in Europe through real crash simulations and rigorous tests, showing how well occupants and road users are protected in crash scenarios. Euro NCAP's rating criteria are continuously updated with technological advances, such as driver assistance systems, and help consumers make informed purchasing decisions.

First in China: Megacasting in Front and Rear Structures

No small effort was spared here: The SUV Coupe features torsional rigidity of up to 41,600 Nm/deg and is the first model in China to use the integrated die-casting technology for the front and rear construction, also known as "Megacasting." This achieves an 83% increase in rigidity. While over 300 components are processed in a conventional ICE construction, two integrated structures are combined here, increasing impact resistance and improving weight management.

The high-voltage battery was also constructed with great effort to ensure safe integration: A three-layer anti-collision structure, eight anti-collision chambers, and a compression resistance of up to 500 kN (50 tonnes) ensure maximum protection for the vehicle's power source.

Adding Intelligent Electronics to Hardware

Moreover, the G6 is equipped with six airbags, providing comprehensive protection for all occupants from front to back. The Euro NCAP rating also takes into account the comprehensive XPILOT safety features of the G6, which protect passengers in the event of a collision. To effectively manage impact forces, reduce impact energy, and minimize the risk of injury to occupants, control systems to prevent forward, side, and rear collisions work closely together.
