Workplace Charging: GP Joule Connect equips underground garage with charging points

In collaboration with the real estate developer Office Center Oberhaching GmbH, the e-mobility infrastructure specialist GP Joule Connect has equipped and commissioned an underground parking garage in Munich with 45 charging points. The project "M8 – Mühldorfstrasse 8" near the Ostbahnhof has a total of 160 parking spaces.

"The availability of charging facilities at the workplace is an important component of the energy and transport transition and a key driver for the electrification of company fleets," says Wolfgang Rechner, project manager at Connect.

The experience of the e-mobility experts belonging to the GP Joule group shows that "Charge@Work" offerings are a very good means of employee motivation and that companies can thus increase their attractiveness as employers. Real estate providers could also differentiate themselves from the competition with charging points, as the demand for electrified parking spaces is steadily increasing, argues the provider. Particularly in urban areas, charging infrastructure is seen as a decision criterion gaining significant importance for potential tenants.

High energy efficiency, low operating costs

The three tenants of the new property, JSMD Event GmbH, Brainloop AG, and thinkproject Deutschland GmbH, share the parking and charging spaces in various packages. The largest single lot offers 30 charging and parking spaces, supplemented by two smaller batches with ten and five spaces. To ensure the simultaneous use of all available charging points, a dynamic load management system is used. By constantly balancing the available energy with the currently required energy, the maximum charging power can be intelligently distributed among the charging vehicles. This prevents overloading or failure of the entire charging infrastructure.

Comprehensive service: From analysis to operation

In addition to the technical and structural implementation, the provider accompanied the entire process. Following the site and needs analysis at the beginning of the project, comprehensive advice was provided on the benefits of such a facility and funding opportunities for the project, explain the North Germans. They were also involved in all phases of the concrete implementation, from technical planning and design, project management to delivery, installation, and commissioning. After the start of regular operation, they remain active as a system provider for integrated energy solutions, managing the technical operation, undertaking service and maintenance, and being ready for repairs, promises the specialist. The billing of charging processes is also handled centrally.

"The detailed analysis in the early phase enabled us to create a need-based commercial property together with IKR Projektsteuerung, as expected today in an urban location.
