The complete solutions provider Wirelane aims to make paying at charging points as easy as possible for customers with their latest generation of charging stations, avoiding lengthy registrations and making specific charging cards redundant. This goal is to be achieved in collaboration with FEIG ELECTRONICS, a self-service payment provider for terminals. The new payment system cVEND box+ is used with the "Light & Charge" series, and to use it, users only need an NFC-enabled credit or debit card or a smartphone wallet app, such as Google, Samsung, or Apple Pay.

Promoting Accessibility

FEIG ELECTRONICS believes that the transition and flexibility could significantly improve access to electromobility, particularly in Germany, due to the current charging station regulation that requires providers to offer "only the possibility of credit card payment."

"We want to make charging possible for all e-mobilists anytime and anywhere, in line with our motto 'Charge. Pay. Done.' This requires reliable charging systems with simple, barrier-free access to charging. Starting the charging process without having to register and then paying contactlessly - that's how we envision simple charging of electric cars. The cooperation with FEIG ELECTRONIC is an important building block for us on the way to making our vision of widespread charging possible," says Constantin Schwaab, CEO of Wirelane.

Simple Paths through the "Tariff Jungle"

After payment, customers are provided with a digital payment receipt. Both companies, Wirelane and FEIG Electronics, see potential in contactless ad-hoc payments to "overcome the current limitations in 'charging station roaming'" and, through the simplified process, also relieve operators, for example, through increased utilization of the charging points with increasing transparency in the "tariff jungle."

"With Wirelane, we have found an ambitious manufacturer of charging stations that is driving the spread of electromobility as rigorously as we are driving the use of contactless payments through our variably deployable terminals. With the cVEND box+, we enable Wirelane to produce and install particularly convenient charging stations. Through this significant simplification of payment and charging processes, we are promoting the further spread of electromobility in Europe," explains Eric W. Pitts, Senior Manager, Payment at FEIG ELECTRONIC.
