Webfleet, one of the world's leading fleet management solutions and part of Bridgestone, is launching its new EV Charger Monitoring solution. The solution allows companies to keep an eye on their electric vehicles and company-owned charging stations on one platform, thus ensuring planning security and reliability of their own fleet without needing to use additional hardware.

Tool offers security and overview

As part of the new Webfleet service platform for electric vehicles, the solution integrates charging station data directly into the Webfleet fleet management platform. This tool not only simplifies the management of a company's electric vehicle fleet but also provides fleet managers with security and relevant insights to improve their charging strategy.

“With Webfleet EV Charger Monitoring, we are expanding the data-driven foundation for the management of our electric vehicles and charging infrastructure, ensuring that our fleet is charged and ready for use at all times. This significantly simplifies the handling of our electric vehicle fleet,” explains Daniel Lopes, deputy division manager at the Swiss company Protectas, which has integrated the solution into its fleet of 16 electric vehicles.

Important Insights into Overall Process

“For companies that use electric vehicles in their fleet, ensuring their operational readiness is the top priority,” adds Wolfgang Schmid, Webfleet Head of Central Region at Bridgestone Mobility Solutions. “EV Charger Monitoring provides them with this security. Fleet managers get an overview of all their charging stations at different business locations with Webfleet, regardless of their respective provider. This way, charging strategies can be optimized and the risk of unplanned additional stops at expensive fast-charging stations can be minimized. Because this costs companies both time and money.”

The solution offers fleet managers real-time updates on the availability, occupancy, and charging speed of all company-owned charging stations, as well as the distance of a vehicle to a specific charging station. This allows fleet managers to receive early notifications about potential charging problems that would impair a regulated fleet operation, enabling them to respond early and effectively.

The Webfleet dashboard not only shows them the status and relevant notifications about their fleet in real-time, but also provides them with important insights into energy costs, consumption, usage trends, and average charging time. In this way, companies constantly have their electric vehicle fleet's charging performance in view and can specifically improve their charging strategy. The comprehensive overview helps optimize expenses and capacity utilization and also helps in ideally planning the expansion of their own electric vehicle fleet.

New Tool Now Available for European Customers

With the EV Charger Monitoring Tool, companies can easily integrate all their charging stations that comply with open charging protocols (OCPP and OCPI) into their fleet management, without the need to invest in additional hardware. Webfleet is compatible with any charging station management system (CPMS) that supports the latest OCPI standards and is already working with EV Service Platform partners Bia, Evesto, Ampeco, and Monta. Webfleet EV Charger Monitoring is now available for European Webfleet customers.
