VW is now also bringing one of its most important models worldwide as a plug-in hybrid. You have to pay 42,413.11 euros (36,564 euros net) or more, depending on the equipment, to buy the new Tiguan eHybrid. The Tiguan also combines the 1.4-liter TSI petrol engine with 110 kW with an 85 kW electric motor. The system output is also 180 kW (245 PS), and it offers 400 Nm maximum torque. According to VW, the battery is standardly ready for use down to minus 10 degrees Celsius and enables a range of up to 50 km in electric mode according to WLTP. Charging is done via alternating current, using a plug-in charger at a conventional household socket with a maximum of 2.3 kW or at a charging station with up to 3.6 kW.
Equipment in three versions
Customers can configure their car in three equipment options: Life, Elegance, and R-Line. In addition to the different extras, basic details such as lane-keeping assist, a telephone interface, or rain sensors are part of the basic equipment.
What does that mean?
For VW, the SUV is one of the most important pillars of the fleet. An electric version of it was just a matter of time. With the company’s commitment to aiming for the Paris climate goals, VW is sending a clear signal – e-mobility is the future, even for “classics” like the Tiguan.
