Starting in 2022, the ID.5 is set to complete the ID family. Since it can be assumed that the innovation bonus will not be extended into 2022, VW is listing the gross prices without deductions this time. There is still no precise information on the exact start of pre-sales – however, production in Zwickau has already discreetly started. Instead of the full €9,570 deduction, which consists of a €3,000 environmental bonus, a €3,000 innovation bonus, and a €3,570 manufacturer’s share, there will be "only" a €6,570 price reduction, so that the ID.5 would start at a minimum of €39,945, which is just under €33,570 net.
The top model, the ID.5 GTX, is priced at €53,615 (just under €45,055 net), which is just above the net price limit of €40,000, meaning it is only subsidized with €5,475 – ideally coming to just under €40,455 net. At the start of pre-sales, the ID.5 Pro and the ID.5 Pro Performance with 128 kW and 150 kW, respectively, and the all-wheel-drive ID.5 GTX with 220 kW will be offered, each with a 77-kWh battery.
Up to 150 kW charging capacity for the GTX
Encouraging: At the pre-premiere, VW already announced up to 135 kW peak charging capacity – which is also supposed to be maintained for longer – now the GTX could even reach up to 150 kW, allowing 100 kilometers to be recharged in just over six minutes.
What does this mean?
The ID.5 costs €1,600 more gross than the comparable ID.4 with the same battery size, but it is also better equipped in detail. Therefore, the customer has a tough choice, especially since there are hardly any compromises in terms of interior space. The better aerodynamics ensure slightly higher ranges.
