VW ID. Buzz GTX: Electric Express Transporter for Seven

Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles is expanding the range of its fully electric van, the ID. Buzz: Following the ID. Buzz Pro and ID. Buzz Cargo (150 kW / 204 PS) as well as the long version, the new ID. Buzz GTX is now being introduced. With an output of 250 kW (340 PS, 560 Nm), the top model is equipped with an electric motor on both the front and rear axles – together forming an electric all-wheel drive that is intended to ensure high traction. Two versions are planned: one with a standard wheelbase and a new 79-kWh battery (gross: 84 kWh), and one with an extended wheelbase and a new 86-kWh battery (gross: 91 kWh). The range has not yet been officially announced but is expected to be between 450 and 500 kilometers thanks to the more efficient motors – synchronous in the rear, asynchronous in the front – which should be realistically achievable. This is also because the top speed is limited to 160 km/h.

Up to 200 kW charging capacity

Charging will be possible with 185 kW for the short version and 200 kW in DC for the long Buzz, as well as probably 11 kW in AC. With active route guidance from the navigation system and the e-route planner, preconditioning will be automatically initiated on the way to the next fast-charging station. Both GTX models are said to be even more agile than the standard version, accelerating from 0 to 100 km/h in about 6.5 seconds, according to the announcement. The market launch of both models will take place in the second half of the year, with pre-sales starting in the summer.

Electric Tow Vehicle with 1.8 Tons Towing Capacity

Thanks to the higher drive performance, the maximum towing capacity also increases: the ID. Buzz GTX with a standard wheelbase achieves a towing capacity of 1,800 kg (braked, 8 percent incline), for the long ID. Buzz GTX it is 1,600 kg, 800 kg and 600 kg more respectively.

In addition to visual enhancements such as a special front design in honeycomb style, the color "Cherry Red" or changed driving light elements and black high-gloss accents, new 19-inch alloy wheels are standard, with an option for 21-inch alloy wheels. LED matrix headlights are also standard. GTX colors: Exclusively for the ID. Buzz GTX, a new paint color "Cherry Red" is offered. Inside, dark tones are meant to emphasize the sporty character. Additionally, electrically adjustable comfort seats with memory function are used.

With Five or Up to Seven Seats

The GTX with a standard wheelbase is available as a five-seater with a 40:60 split three-seat bench in the second row (2/3) or as a six-seater with two individual seats in the second and third rows (2/2/2). The extended E-Bulli can also be configured as a five-seater with a three-seat bench (2/3) and as a six-seater (2/2/2); furthermore, this version is offered as a seven-seater with a three-seat bench in the second row and two individual seats in the third row (2/3/2). The seats in the second rows are longitudinally displaceable by 150 mm (standard wheelbase) or 200 mm (long wheelbase).

GTX Cargo Space: Generous Volume

The luggage compartment volume of the ID. Buzz GTX (standard wheelbase) is between 1,121 liters (top edge of the rear seat backrests) and 2,123 liters (rear seat bench folded down, top edge of the front seat backrests) in a five-seater configuration. The long version achieves a volume of 1,340 liters, respectively 2,469 liters. Even with seven people, there is still a volume of 306 liters behind the third row of seats. Depending on the seat configuration, a long or short Multiflex board (including two folding boxes) can be added. This creates a second loading level and—when the rear seats are folded down—a flat loading surface.
