Volvo & Telekom: Wallbox plus Service

Like most manufacturers, Volvo also offers its own wallboxes for electric models, but it is the first brand to do so in cooperation with Telekom.

Offering buyers of battery-electric vehicles or plug-in hybrids a wallbox has already become standard practice among vehicle manufacturers. Volvo is following suit and offering buyers of its "Recharge" models a package that includes a wallbox and installation by Telekom. The "Recharge" label represents both plug-in hybrids and pure electric vehicles such as the XC 40 Recharge Pure Electric within the Swedish brand of the Chinese Geely group.

To supply power for these vehicles, the Telekom subsidiary T-System on site Services GmbH has set up a webshop. Through it, one can order and pay for a wallbox for wall mounting or with a standalone column. Volvo offers a wallbox from the Swedish manufacturer Garo AB with a charging power of up to 11 kW, WLAN connectivity, and a five-meter-long cable with a Type-2 connector. The box is splash-proof and therefore also suitable for outdoor installation.

The complete wallbox package, including PreCheck and standard installation and the necessary materials, is available for 2,279 euros (incl. VAT). According to Volvo, the wallbox is eligible for a 900 euro subsidy under the KfW funding program 440. Volvo promises that customers will be contacted by Telekom within 72 hours of placing an order to arrange an appointment for a PreCheck.
