New owner for the so-called Telemoritz: Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles sells the telecommunications tower to a project development company of the entrepreneur Oliver Blume.

Future Plans

The plan is to transform the Telemoritz into an innovative residential project and use the upper floors as cultural and event spaces.

Gardens are to be created on two floors, which will be available for public use. Additionally, residential space is planned around the tower shaft.

"The 'Telemoritz' is an iconic landmark with history, and we are very pleased to lead this defining symbol for Hanover to a new purpose," says Oliver Blume.

Tower History

According to Blume, they want to combine living space and cultural offerings and create a place that is meant to connect people. The 141-meter-high telecommunications tower was commissioned in 1960 and is one of the tallest buildings in Hanover.

Originally, it was built by the Deutsche Bundespost and housed transmission technology for radio and television signals.

In 2000, Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles took over the property and used it as an advertising platform – including the distinctive logo on the highest platform at a height of 102 meters.

"For Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles, the sustainable preservation of the television tower has always been the preferred option," says Steffen Reiche, member of the Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles brand board responsible for Production and Logistics, and adds: "Therefore, I am pleased that, in coordination with the state capital Hanover, the responsibility for the future development of the 'Telemoritz' has now been transferred to the project development company of Oliver Blume."
