Via takes over On-Demand in RMV for CleverShuttle
Since November 1, 2023, there has been a new operator for six of the nine on-demand services in the RMV area. Via will continue the offerings of the insolvent shuttle operator GHT Mobility (CleverShuttle) HeinerLiner (Darmstadt), Hopper (Offenbach district), Mainer (Hanau), KNUT (Northern Frankfurt), Emil (Taunusstein), and DadiLiner (Darmstadt-Dieburg district).
"Together with our new partner Via, we will continue the success story of the on-demand project in the RMV. The change of operator does not alter the offering, the high quality, and the goal of further advancing on-demand mobility as a crucial component for the mobility transition," said RMV Managing Director Prof. Knut Ringat. "We thank CleverShuttle for the good cooperation so far and are pleased that we were able to secure Via, a globally successful operator of public on-demand services with more than 650 projects worldwide, for our project. The fact that Via is not only taking over shuttle services in the RMV but also four other on-demand services in Germany from CleverShuttle impressively demonstrates Via's expertise."
Rides with the HeinerLiner free of charge in the first days
A new free HeinerLiner app for Android and iOS is available for passengers to download in the app stores since November 1. In the first five days after the launch, all rides booked through the HeinerLiner app are free of charge for passengers, allowing regular and new customers to experience the new booking process for the proven service.
On-demand services becoming increasingly important for an attractive public transport system
On-demand public transport services play an increasingly important role in dozens of cities in Germany, providing mobility options and reducing reliance on private cars by shifting towards environmentally friendly and attractive modes of transport.
"We are pleased to bring our extensive experience and proven software solution from Via to support the RMV in this next phase of its mission," said Chris Snyder, Via Europe CEO.
About on-demand in the RMV
With the on-demand services, the RMV and its project partners offer flexible, shared, all-electric mobility options on demand as a complement to buses and trains, and thus a more climate-friendly alternative to private car travel. The total of nine local RMV shuttle services with 144 vehicles already form the largest on-demand network in Germany. They are also very popular with passengers: according to RMV, the average rating is 4.9 out of 5 stars.
The project is funded by the Federal Ministry of Digital and Transport (BMDV) and the state of Hesse until the end of 2024.
