Uber: Taxi and rental car service in the Rhineland is growing
Since April 6, 2021, the US company Uber has been offering the booking of rental car and taxi rides through its app in Leverkusen, Neuss, and Bergisch Gladbach. It states that it also collaborates with licensed taxi and rental car companies there. The basis for the taxi rides booked through the Uber Taxi product is the taxi fare, the company writes. For rental car rides via the UberX product, the fare is set at the time of booking and does not change. Payment is always cashless via the payment method stored in the app.
Uber came up with the idea of extending the service to these three cities because around 150,000 attempts to book a ride through its app were registered there in 2020. The app intermediary started in Düsseldorf in 2018, in Cologne in 2019, and about a year ago in Duisburg.
