Traton Charging Solutions: New E-charging Service for Trucks Launched at Scania
Driving the charging of electric trucks forward is the goal of the Traton Group with Charging Solutions as a new service company. Customers should be granted simplified access to charging stations, thereby facilitating the switch to battery-electric commercial vehicles, according to reports.
The services offered by the company include contract conclusion, billing, route planning, and usage analyses.
“If electric transport is to be widely adopted, charging stations must be accessible and affordable,” said Petra Sundström, Managing Director of Traton Charging Solutions. “Our mission is to connect the best charging options with the best brands and help drivers find them. In doing so, we provide the fundamental capabilities for the charging services of our brands,” she adds.
Charging should become easier
The demand for charging options outside company premises is rapidly increasing, but charging vehicles, especially on long trips, is often challenging. Additionally, the density of charging stations varies by region. For this reason, the aim is to ensure easier access to charging stations, promote the proliferation of e-commercial vehicles, and enable widespread deployment.
Traton Charging Solutions is aimed at covering various operators of public charging stations. The service is open to all brands, including those outside the corporate group, according to the details, and is therefore also accessible to fleet customers with multiple brands. According to the information, Scania and MAN can offer their customers access to a European charging network currently available in eleven countries.
Scania is set to roll out the new so-called Scania Charging Access as the first brand. The service organizes the charging points according to truck suitability. Customers will only receive a consolidated invoice - regardless of the respective charging point operator in the network.
Furthermore, only services actually used will be billed; there will be no registration or monthly fees. The prerequisite for using this service is the ownership of a Scania truck.
First partner under contract - more to follow soon
Milence, the joint venture of Traton Group, Daimler Truck, and Volvo Group, is one of the first charging network operators. At and near highways, as well as at logistics hubs, at least 1,700 high-performance charging points for green electricity are to be established and operated in Europe.
Translated automatically from German.“The cooperation with Milence is a logical step on our way to simple and efficient charging. However, we are also in advanced negotiations with a number of other relevant industry players across Europe and will soon introduce more important partners,” Sundström explains.
