The global investment fund Woven Capital has announced its equity investment in the robotics company Nuro Inc. This participation marks the fund's first investment since its establishment by the Woven Planet Group in January 2021. The subsidiary of Toyota is dedicated to the themes of automated driving, smart cities, and robotics. Nuro will drive the development and construction of self-driving delivery vehicles in the coming months and years, aiming to sustainably transform local commerce through autonomous delivery. With its investment, the Woven Planet Group underscores its intention to support companies in developing innovative technologies and business models in the fields of mobility, automation, and artificial intelligence.

“Nuro is a true market leader for autonomous vehicles in local goods delivery. Thanks to its state-of-the-art technology and strong partnerships with leading US brands, Nuro makes everyday commerce safer and more efficient,” believes George Kellerman, Managing Director of Woven Capital.

He sees the company well equipped for a successful future in a post-Covid-19 world and believes that consumers will appreciate safe and user-friendly delivery. Nuro is the ideal partner for the first investment.

“Woven Capital's focus on safe mobility and cutting-edge technology, as well as their connection to Toyota, make them an ideal investment partner for us,” adds Dave Ferguson, co-founder and president of Nuro.

The US company considers itself a leading provider of autonomous delivery services. The fleet of the company, founded in 2016, consists of autonomous vehicles designed to quickly, cost-effectively, and safely deliver everyday goods to consumers – from groceries to pizza to medical prescriptions. The company's goal is to fundamentally transform the last mile of local delivery for consumers and businesses. The company partners with US firms such as retail giants Kroger, CVS Health, and Walmart, as well as quick-service restaurant chain Domino's Pizza.
