Togg TX10: Turkish electric SUV also coming to Germany

(dpa/tmn) Over 30 years after Anadol, Turkey is making a comeback as a car nation. Instead of just manufacturing for Ford, Fiat & Co, Togg is now building its own electric cars – and will start exporting to Germany from the fall.

The first Turkish automobile manufacturer since Anadol is entering the export market and plans to sell its electric SUV T10X in Germany starting this fall. This was announced by Gürcan Karakas. He is the head of the consortium Togg, founded in 2018 by industrial heavyweights, which has a facility capable of producing up to 175,000 cars per year and has already been delivering in Turkey since last summer. However, he gave no information about the price. In Turkey, the T10X starts at 1.4 million liras, or currently the equivalent of about 40,400 euros.

The debut model is fully electric and competes as a 4.60-meter-long SUV against cars like the VW ID.4. It is available with 52.4 or 88.5 kWh for standard ranges of up to 523 kilometers and with high charging capacity: 22 kW on AC and 180 kW on DC are possible. The drive is also powerful. Equipped with one or two Bosch motors, the T10X, according to the manufacturer, delivers up to 320 kW/435 hp, accelerates from zero to 100 km/h in 4.8 seconds, and reaches speeds of up to 185 km/h.

Digital Interior

The highlight of the T10X is its infotainment: Not only is the continuous screen unrivaled in this class, says Karakas. But above all, it’s the services behind it: There is not only digital art and a radio that constantly recomposes the music using artificial intelligence. The T10X is part of an entire ecosystem with its own virtual currency, from which you can book flights, make purchases, organize charging at your own Togg network, or even pay your taxes. When the T10X comes to Germany, there will be an adapted version of this virtual world for our standards, Karakas promised.
