Thok MIG e-S as a Car Replacement: This Pedelec Replaces the Cadillac!
The Italian pedelec manufacturer THOK E-Bikes has introduced its new hybrid model, specifically aimed at commuters and everyday cyclists. The MIG e-S is meant to combine maneuverability and city accessories with sporty off-road characteristics and to handle poor infrastructure as well as curbs. Additionally, the manufacturer promises agile handling on asphalt and stable road-holding even on cobblestones or tram tracks. The bike is also supposed to perform well off-road.
"The MIG e-S is a bike for everyone who wants to move powerfully in city traffic and commute by bike to escape congested roads and indulge in their love of cycling. This versatile e-bike combines practical details and safety with fun," the manufacturer advertises.
According to the manufacturer, they are entering the segment of so-called e-SUV bikes and aim to resolve the dilemma when purchasing a bike of whether it should be a "mountain bike or city bike." The MIG e-S is thus intended to be a fully capable bicycle for commuters, equipped with all comforts. It boasts generous suspension, easy-rolling wheels, and a telescopic seat post. The tire combination is designed to offer grip on all surfaces. The front fork with 150mm and the shock absorber with 140mm travel are expected to perform well on gravel roads, compact mountain trails, and generally rocky paths.
The key feature is the different wheel sizes of the front and rear wheels (29-inch diameter with 30mm width in the front and 27.5-inch diameter with 35mm width in the rear), which, together with the new Johnny Watts 365 tires from Schwalbe, are designed to overcome obstacles in rough terrain. This tire, specialized for mixed-use on e-bikes and performance in cold weather, promises good rolling characteristics and high puncture protection. The frame is taken from the MIG e-S, the manufacturer's standard model. Its construction and geometry are intended to suit both e-bike beginners and more demanding cyclists who seek good handling and responsiveness.
The battery is mounted under the down tube for a low center of gravity and greater maneuverability, and the frame designed according to its own "Control Geometry" with a 66° steering angle and straight seat post is supposed to guarantee riding comfort and agility. It is equipped with the Shimano E7000 motor and the removable Shimano 630 Wh battery which can be charged at the office or at home using a power outlet. The pedelec is fully road and city-ready with rustproof fenders made of aluminum and polypropylene, a height-adjustable kickstand, a foldable steel lock with PVC coating including a frame mount. The MIG e-S is available in powder blue and four sizes at a price of 4,490 euros.
