Almost weekly, the Baden-Württemberg energy supplier EnBW draws attention to new fast charging stations, with which it is covering Germany. The latest hubs of its increasingly dense network have been established in the Saxon cities of Zwickau and Meerane.

At the Zwickau East freeway exit of the A72 freeway near the local truck stop, twelve charging points are being built, where suitably equipped electric vehicles can be charged with up to 300 kW of direct current. At the Meerane freeway exit on the route from Chemnitz to Gera, initially eight charging points are being constructed, with the option to expand the charging park to 20 charging points.

At both locations, the charging stations are covered. Additionally, there are catering options at both sites. The groundbreaking ceremony at both locations took place on September 20, 2021. Both are expected to go into operation this year.

Only a few days after announcing the two East German locations, the energy provider announced that it had already put 100 fast charging locations into operation in North Rhine-Westphalia. By the end of 2021, it aims to have 120 locations there. Among them will be the "XXL location" at the Kamener Kreuz. There, 52 fast charging points are currently being built.
