Tesla: New Record Levels in the Second Quarter of 2023
New records at Tesla: 460,211 units of Model 3 and Y were produced worldwide, and 446,915 vehicles were delivered. The refreshed Model S and X are also significantly contributing to overall production again: They achieved 19,489 produced and 19,225 delivered units.
In total, Tesla has continued to grow: In the first quarter of 2023, there were 440,808 produced and 422,875 delivered vehicles. However, the Californian brand seems to be slowly but surely approaching its “peak.” Especially since production for Model 3 and Model Y was significantly higher than deliveries, while the more expensive models still seem to be produced quite close to demand.
Further details on the business results for the second quarter of 2023 with figures including revenue and profit/loss, as well as an outlook on the expected development for the rest of 2023, will be provided by Tesla at a later date.
What does that mean?
The growth of Tesla's current lineup is noticeably slowing down, making it difficult to produce more than two million units per year with the current range. That’s why Tesla is counteracting in two ways: A new Model 3 (and later Y) is expected to be even cheaper to produce, and the Model 2 is set to capture new customers and markets. The production of the pickup Cybertruck has somewhat stalled, especially since all major automakers in the USA already have alternatives on the market, and the truck is slowly reaching its first customers.
