Tesla launches Model 3 Performance: Electric sports car in sedan attire

Tesla aims to defy the sales slump and has now announced the introduction of the strongest Model 3 to date with the brand-typical Performance addition. With a system performance of 460 HP and an acceleration capability of 3.1 seconds to 100 km/h along with a top speed of 262 km/h, the Californians aim to satisfy high demands and deliver sports car level performance. The additional power is to be transferred to the road through staggered, forged 20" aluminum wheels with new 20" performance summer tires. The staggered arrangement ensures sharper steering response, better predictability, and better traction out of corners, both on the road and on the race track, promise the Californians. Also new to the top Model 3 is the adaptive damping technology, which is fully controlled by Tesla's proprietary software and integrated into the Tesla Vehicle Dynamics Controller (VDC). This next-generation system is designed to deliver top driving performance without sacrificing everyday usability.

Improved chassis, high-performance brakes, and track mode

Furthermore, the chassis technology is said to have been significantly improved to enhance the performance of the drivetrain and suspension systems. This is achieved through increased structural rigidity, revised springs, stabilizers, and bushings, which are intended to create a more immediate response to driver inputs. The brakes (with red calipers) are equipped as standard with high-performance brake pads, which are expected to offer faster deceleration, higher thermal limits, and longer life. The latest generation of Track Mode now integrates adaptive suspension control with a performance-optimized drivetrain that responds spontaneously to driver inputs, enabling maximum control, the manufacturer claims. When the mode is activated, driving behavior, stability control, and regenerative braking system can be adjusted through a new user interface.
