Tesla converts shuttle train from diesel to electric

The US electric car manufacturer Tesla plans to convert its shuttle train from Erkner and Berlin-Lichtenberg to the factory in Grünheide to electric. Starting this summer, Tesla intends to switch from a diesel train to a battery-electric train, thereby sustainably shaping the connection to the company's own train station, the company announced on Wednesday. This will affect both the shuttle operation to Berlin-Lichtenberg and to Erkner from the station at the Grünheide plant. 

Since September last year, Tesla has been offering its own shuttle train from Erkner to the factory in Grünheide. It is intended to alleviate car traffic in the region, which has increased with the factory. Not only Tesla employees can ride it. Since April, a train has also been running from Berlin-Lichtenberg to Tesla's factory station. According to the automaker, both connections are used by more than 3,500 people per day.
