The ridesharing provider MOIA, operating in Hamburg and Hannover, now offers a new service called "MOIA Express," which closely resembles a taxi ride. When booking a ride through the app of the Volkswagen Group’s mobility provider, users still need to input the pickup and destination points as well as the number of passengers. However, they will now receive up to three ride offers and two options displayed.
The classic shared ride is offered as "Classic." The new option is "Express." This option entails boarding at a nearby virtual stop and alighting at a similar stop near the destination. The detour for additional passengers is eliminated, making it quite similar to a door-to-door taxi ride.
How much more expensive the direct ride will be compared to a shared ride will apparently be shown in the booking app. No general statements on this can be found on MOIA’s homepage. There, you can find information about MOIA Express for both Hamburg and Hannover. Therefore, it can be assumed that the new service is offered not only by the Elbe but also by the Leine. MOIA has yet to release a press statement about the new service.
What does this mean?
MOIA is primarily active in northern Germany and is now coming out with concrete offers. It will be interesting to see how this develops.
