T-Systems fleet: Fully electric in the future
T-Systems is massively advancing the electrification of its fleet: Currently, around a hundred T-Systems employees are already fully electric on the road. In the coming years, the company's share of electric business vehicles is expected to increase to almost 100 percent. This will reduce T-Systems’ CO2 emissions by approximately 1,000 tons per year. This annual saving corresponds to ten percent of the currently remaining emissions from self-generated or purchased energy. Adel Al-Saleh, member of the Board of Management of Deutsche Telekom and CEO of T-Systems, says:
“Sustainability is a fixed part of our strategy. Our electrically powered business vehicles will form one of the largest managed electric fleets in Germany. This way, we demonstrate daily on the streets that we are serious about reducing CO2 emissions. We are aware that this is a challenge for our employees. That’s why we support them with a larger selection of cars and promote the expansion of the charging infrastructure.”
Olga Nevska, Managing Director of Telekom Mobility Solutions, is pleased with the subsidiary's undertaking and explains:
“We have been investing in resource-saving mobility solutions for years and are actively shaping the traffic transition. Alternative propulsion systems play a central role in this. That’s why we are happy to support T-Systems’ consistent path and offer nearly 30 e-models to choose from. At the same time, we continue to work on making our offer more flexible and digital, so that our employees can leave their cars behind as often as possible.”
The charging infrastructure is also being expanded
With the switch to pure electric cars, T-Systems is also driving the expansion of the company's charging infrastructure. Charging stations already exist at seven of the ten major sites in Germany. Additional charging stations are planned at the other locations and will be available to both employees and customers.
The Big Goal: Climate Neutral in Energy Consumption by 2025
The E-fleet is part of T-Systems' sustainability strategy. According to T-Systems, the consistent focus on fully electric vehicles is also a clear signal to support the transformation of the German automotive industry towards zero-emission mobility. The company aims to achieve net-zero for direct and indirect energy consumption in its own operations by 2025.
Switched to Green Power Since 2021
Electricity consumption has been fully powered by renewable energies since 2021. And the range of products that support customers in their sustainability strategy is also growing. Deutsche Telekom has been actively committed to climate protection since the 1990s. The group has set itself the goal of working climate-neutral across the entire value chain by 2040 at the latest.
What Does This Mean?
T-Systems is massively accelerating the conversion of its fleet. A strong signal and good for the environment, especially since the company uses green electricity for "refueling".
