Swobbee integrates Segway Ninebot scooters into battery swapping system
The Berlin-based Battery-as-a-Service provider Swobbee has now integrated the batteries from market leader Segway-Ninebot into its battery swap stations. The e-kickscooter batteries from the American-Chinese company are thus already the seventh battery model in the cross-manufacturer Swobbee system. Given the widespread use of e-kickscooters from the US brand, this represents an important step in making the use of these popular small electric vehicles even more sustainable, according to Swobbee. The new e-bikes from Segway-Ninebot also use this battery type, which opens up further areas of application for the stations.
The e-kickscooters from the brand known primarily for its self-balancing personal transporters are among the best-selling e-scooters in the world and achieve top ratings in tests, the manufacturer continues to advertise. In Germany, the vehicles play a prominent role in the private market. Additionally, the e-kickscooters are also used by large sharing providers, such as Ford's subsidiary Spin in Germany. For its Berlin e-kickscooter fleet, the sharing specialist already uses the Swobbee system to ensure efficient and sustainable operations. Other sharing fleets in other German cities will be added, they announced.
"Segway-Ninebot is one of the major players in the booming e-kickscooter market. Through Swobbee compatibility, Segway-Ninebot can offer its users an economically and ecologically sensible additional service, while opening up a huge new market for Swobbee," says Thomas Duscha, CEO and co-founder of Swobbee.
From the perspective of Tony Ho, Vice President Global Business Development at Segway, the goal is to help fleet operators reduce costs and increase efficiency. The connection to Swobbee stations contributes to this, Ho added.
