Superpedestrian offers e-scooter rides to vaccination centers
To support the Covid-19 vaccination program in Vienna, the US robotics and micromobility provider Superpedestrian has announced the provision of 10,000 free rides with its rental e-scooter LINK. This offer is in addition to the free rides worth 1 million euros that the provider has already made available in Spain and Italy to support residents in getting vaccinated. It builds on a similar program in the company's US markets. The Vienna vaccination program will primarily benefit people from low-income neighborhoods who would otherwise have difficulty reaching the vaccination centers, the provider explains the initiative.
The company advertises that in the cities where the service is present, it provides a particularly high proportion of its fleet in disadvantaged areas. In Seattle, for example, 15 percent of all rides with the service's scooters began or ended in disadvantaged urban areas, which corresponds to ten times that of the next best provider, as claimed based on data from the Seattle Department of Transportation. Free rides to vaccination centers or state-organized vaccination parties can be booked via the scooter app and a short online form, using a 10-euro credit.
