Stellantis plans Abarth 600

After Luca de Meo initiated Cupra and is now doing the same with Alpine at Renault, his former employer is revisiting his idea for Fiat, where he had planned the exact same thing with Abarth. However, before he could fully expand Abarth, he moved on, and Abarth somewhat faded into the background. Now Abarth and Stellantis Motorsport are jointly working on a platform that is said to have been formed by combining motorsport experience, technical know-how, and many hours of testing: It is named Perfo-eCMP and is a "high-performance variant" of the current eCMP platform.

A lot of fine-tuning on chassis and tires

For this, Abarth includes a newly developed limited-slip differential, which has been adapted to the specific needs of an electric drivetrain and its dynamic driving characteristics. The braking system has also been upgraded compared to the conventional eCMP platform version with larger discs for better heat dissipation and reduced fading, among other enhancements. Additionally, the new platform stands on tires with innovative material technology, constructed using know-how from Formula E. These tires are intended to provide more grip without compromising range and acoustics. Thanks to the softer tread compound in the outer and central areas, the special tires offer extra grip when cornering. At the same time, a polyurethane insert reduces noise development by around 20 percent.
