Spectainer: Real-time Tracking for Collapsible Containers
The entire so-called Collapsecon container fleet should now be able to be tracked in real-time from the starting point to the destination. This is because the provider of collapsible containers, Spectainer, has entered into a partnership with Nexxiot. The advantages of space-saving transport containers and live data collection are thus to be combined. Efficiency is to be increased, while resource expenditure is to be reduced.
Nexxiot uses IOT sensor devices and a special analysis technology called Asset Intelligence for monitoring. The information obtained in this way is intended to standardize or automate processes. In addition, more frequent challenges in cargo security are to become visible.
"Shippers expect secure transport and precise information about where their goods are currently located. Nexxiot's technology reduces the risk of negative developments going unnoticed and simultaneously creates a data basis to make better decisions and optimize logistical processes," said Nicholas Press, CEO of Spectainer.
According to Stefan Kalmund, CEO of Nexxiot, the two companies aim to use the developed technologies and processes to contribute to making supply chains crisis-proof and reducing resource consumption.
According to the company, several empty cargo containers in the Collapsecon container fleet can be slid together. After being folded by a fully automatic station, the remaining container then takes up only one slot, according to Spectainer. Due to the horizontal folding, the container is very stable and can still withstand 378 tons in any position on the ship.
What does this mean?
The folding solution is intended to minimize the transport of empty containers and counteract both space and resource wastage. If this can now also be tracked digitally, even better!
