Solaris Urbino 15 LE electric: The pioneer continues and drives further
“We keep our promises,” under this motto, the Polish bus manufacturer Solaris will present to the public its latest electric model, the 15 m long Urbino 15 LE electric, on October 20 at 12 PM – due to the coronavirus, however, the new battery bus will only make its debut virtually on the internet.
For Urban and Intercity Traffic
Solaris had announced the new electric bus for this year even before the outbreak of the COVID-19 pandemic. The three-axle Urbino 15 LE electric, which is now set to hit the market, is designed for both urban and intercity traffic and meets the requirements of both vehicle classes, according to the manufacturer.
Thanks to the Solaris High Energy+ batteries with a total capacity of 470 kWh, the new electric bus can travel up to a few hundred kilometers on a single charge under real operating conditions, according to the company's press release. This makes it possible for the first time to serve intercity routes emission-free. Additionally, the wide range of technical solutions and features allows for precise individual configurations tailored to the specific needs of each transport operator.
Equipment
Details from the Polish bus manufacturer remain sparse – safety, high range, and comfort were the focus during the development of the new Urbino 15 LE electric – on board the emission-free Low Entry vehicle are numerous driver assistance systems, an interactive touch panel, and cameras instead of mirrors to ease the driver's burden and ensure a comfortable and safe ride. The spacious, air-conditioned bus interior offers up to 65 comfortable seats with cozy armrests. Practical solutions such as USB charging ports and reading lamps complete the equipment.
