In the coming weeks, the Solaris Urbino 12 hydrogen will be deployed on the streets of Paris. The RATP Group, in collaboration with the Polish bus manufacturer, wants to test the possibilities of hydrogen technology in regular passenger operations. The tests will take place in the southern part of Paris. The vehicle will be stationed at the bus depot in the Thiais district and will refuel at the Jouy en Josas station in the southwestern outskirts of Paris.

70-kW Fuel Cells

The Urbino 12 hydrogen is equipped with a set of 70 kW fuel cells. This delivers its electric power to the e-axle. The bus is also equipped with a high-performance battery as an additional energy storage. The hydrogen is stored in five composite tanks located on the roof of the vehicle. Thanks to them, the Urbino 12 hydrogen has a range similar to vehicles with conventional drives.

57 Ordered Urbino 12 Hydrogen

Since its premiere in June last year, Solaris has received orders for 57 units of this bus type from Germany, Italy, and the Netherlands. The first vehicles will be delivered later this year to Bolzano, Cologne, and Wuppertal.

The RATP Group is the largest urban transport operator in France. Millions of passengers use their services every day in Paris and the entire Île-de-France region. RATP plans to convert its fleet of 4,700 buses to low-emission drives by 2025. Currently, it operates 19 gas-powered Solaris Urbino 18 CNG buses. A contract for the delivery of three Urbino 8.9 LE electric buses is currently being executed.
