Solaris major order: 183 Urbino 18 electric for Oslo
The Norwegian transport company Unibuss AS has been relying on buses from the Solaris portfolio since 2006 – now the Polish bus manufacturer has received the largest order in the company's history from the Norwegians with 183 Solaris Urbino 18 electric buses – according to Solaris, the total value amounts to around 100 million euros.
"We are very proud of the trust that Unibuss AS has once again placed in us and look forward to further expanding our cooperation. A contract for such a large delivery of e-buses is also clear proof that the zero-emission revolution is becoming a reality. The people of Oslo will be able to see this for themselves soon when they ride in the comfortable Urbino 18 electric buses," emphasizes Sverre Skaar, Managing Director of Solaris Norge AS.
Details
The fourth-generation articulated electric buses, which will be deployed in April 2023 on routes in the Norwegian capital Oslo, have high-energy batteries with a total capacity of over 500 kW on board. A 250 kW central motor provides the propulsion. The electric articulated buses are charged via plug-in at the Unibuss depot in Oslo.
The Solaris Urbino 18 electric buses are equipped with a double ramp, allowing passengers with disabilities easy access. The air conditioning system has antiviral filters designed to protect passengers from infection during pandemic times. USB charging ports and special ambient lighting provide additional travel comfort.
