Smatrics EnBW: AutoCharge function launches at fast chargers in Austria

Charging made easier thanks to the Plug&Charge function like at Tesla is now possible at the EnBW HPC stations from Smatrics in Austria. In total, this offers over 3,400 AutoCharge-enabled fast charging points at EnBW in Germany and at SMATRICS EnBW in Austria.

Starting in August 2023, EnBW mobility+ customers in Austria will also be able to use AutoCharge. This means the charging process will start automatically at the existing rate as soon as the plug is connected to the vehicle – without authentication via app or charging card, according to the provider. The feature has been available since November 2021 through the EnBW mobility+ offering at the provider's rapid charging points in Germany. As part of the joint venture SMATRICS EnBW, it will now also be available at 130 rapid charging points operated by the charging infrastructure provider in Austria, the provider advertises. This allows drivers to automatically charge at a total of more than 3,400 AutoCharge-enabled rapid charging points within the EnBW HyperNetz. After a one-time activation of AutoCharge in the app and at a corresponding EnBW rapid charging station, the function is activated.

In the app, drivers can also see whether a fast charging point supports AutoCharge. It also offers its own filter for a quick overview. Additionally, it provides full transparency about the ongoing charging process and billing for charging sessions that were started with AutoCharge. The charging process can also still be terminated via the app, the charging station, or the vehicle itself. The company from Baden-Württemberg intends to continuously expand the range of charging solutions for drivers. They feel strengthened by the market analyses from the eMobility Excellence Report of July 2023, which indicate that they offer access to most charging points in 17 European countries as well as access to the largest HPC charging network (High Power Charging) in the DACH region (Germany, Austria, and Switzerland).
