Skoda expands its voice assistant Laura with ChatGPT

Skoda is also following a current trend and will integrate ChatGPT into its digital voice assistant Laura in the future. The Chat-Pro function of the technology partner Cerence uses the direct connection to the AI tool of the chatbot from OpenAI. This way, it can also answer questions that previously went beyond Laura's knowledge. The function is available immediately for the new generations of Superb and Kodiaq, the revised Octavia, as well as Enyaq vehicles of the 2024 model year with the new software version 4.0.

ChatGPT and Chat Pro Extend Laura's Capabilities

With the update, it is now possible to answer questions on a wide variety of topics. If a question goes beyond the categories of "Vehicle," "Data," "Weather," "News," "Sports," or "Stocks," Chat Pro, which is linked to ChatGPT, will automatically take over. If the system refers to ChatGPT for an answer, Laura will announce this with the words "According to ChatGPT..."

The voice control remains unchanged for the user. Through the personal settings in the infotainment system, the user can also deactivate the function. Only in the Enyaq models that support this function does it remain always active. An important detail: According to Skoda, ChatGPT does not access vehicle data or personal user information. All inquiries are anonymous and are immediately deleted to ensure the highest level of data protection.
