Skoda Enyaq: Bestseller with a fresh look, better aerodynamics, and more range

The new "Modern Solid" look now also benefits the electric bestseller, but above all ensures improved aerodynamics and a higher range of up to 590 kilometers. In addition, the equipment and assistance systems are more comprehensive. It remains with two battery sizes and three drive options from 150 kW to 210 kW. Prices start from 44,400 euros.

The VW Group subsidiary Škoda Auto continues to advance, and as expected, it is giving the Europe-wide successful Enyaq family the design in the so-called "Modern Solid" look. In terms of the drivetrain, everything remains the same, but the upgraded electric crossover is supposed to offer greater range thanks to optimized aerodynamics, more sustainable materials, and more comprehensive standard equipment. Additionally, improved digital features and more advanced assistance systems are being introduced. In Germany, the starting price for the Enyaq 60 is 44,400 euros.

Particularly striking is the new front section, where the Tech-Deck-Face forms a key feature of the Modern Solid design language. It is now executed more slenderly and features an optimized transition to the front hood. The revised air curtains, a reduced gap between the radiator and the front bumper, as well as the new aerodynamically optimized wheels contribute to aerodynamic efficiency, according to the Czechs. The new model is said to achieve a drag coefficient of only cw 0.245, while the predecessor had a value of cw 0.256. The coupe comes with a cw value starting from 0.225, offering an even more advantageous air resistance compared to the cw 0.234 of the previous model.

Two Batteries and Three Drive Versions

Two battery sizes and three drive options are set: Enyaq 60 and Enyaq 85 each feature an electric motor and rear-wheel drive, while the Enyaq 85x is equipped with an additional electric motor at the front, and thus all-wheel drive. The lithium-ion battery of the Enyaq 60 consists of nine modules, each with 24 battery cells, with a total gross capacity of 63 kWh. It provides energy for the 150-kW synchronous electric motor with permanent magnets located at the rear axle, which transfers a maximum torque of 310 Nm to the rear wheels. The top speed is 160 km/h.

The Enyaq 85 model version, also with an electric motor and rear-wheel drive, features a larger battery with twelve modules and a gross capacity of 82 kWh. Its motor delivers 210 kW and offers a maximum torque of 545 Nm. The larger battery is also used in the 85x model – along with a second asynchronous electric motor on the front axle for all-wheel drive. This system continuously adjusts the power directed to the front wheels, which reduces energy consumption and at the same time aims to increase directional stability. The top speed of both variants is 180 km/h. All three drives are available for both the SUV and the Coupé, as well as their Sportline variants. The ranges are from 437 kilometers for the 60 model to 586 kilometers for the 85 model, and with all-wheel drive, it is 549 kilometers.

The regular charging rates in the 400-volt onboard system are maintained: 165 kW for the Enyaq 60 and up to 175 kW for the Enyaq 85x. This allows the larger battery to charge from ten to 80 percent at DC fast-charging stations in 28 minutes. For the Enyaq 60, charging the battery from ten to 80 percent takes only 24 minutes. All model versions can also charge at AC stations with up to 11 kW.

The standard equipment now includes heated front seats, a heated steering wheel, and technical upgrades. The keyless access and start-stop system KESSY, including the proximity and walkaway function, 3-zone climate control Climatronic, Side Assist, predictive and adaptive distance assistant (pACC), and traffic jam assistant, are now standard. Optional new digital features include remote-controlled parking and trained remote-controlled parking.
