Through the innovative use of materials such as Recytitan and Technofil, the new Škoda Elroq, essentially a shortened version of the Enyaq, aims to open new perspectives for sustainable automotive design. True to the design motto "Modern Solid," the interior is characterized by simplicity, spaciousness, and clear lines. Selected materials emphasize the VW subsidiary's commitment to environmental protection and reducing the carbon footprint of its vehicles: seat covers and upholstery are made from recycled plastic bottles and, for the first time, also from repurposed old clothes. These are processed into new fibers and high-quality fabrics. With this, the Czech automaker aims to come closer to achieving its sustainability goals.

Four Design Selections, Use of Even More Sustainable Materials

In addition, it is said to offer a spacious interior. Four designs are available, each intended to use even more sustainable materials than in previous models. The "Loft" line, for example, uses recycled titanium. The material consists of 78 percent recycled PET bottles and – for the first time by the manufacturer – upcycled old clothes. The dark, gray-blue fiber is combined with dark faux leather details and yellow contrast stitching. The "Lodge" line uses the Technofil material, which consists, among other things, of ECONYL fibers made of regenerated nylon. This, in turn, is created from old fishing nets and fabric remnants, for example.

New Life for Fabric Scraps, Fishing Nets, and PET Bottles

Recytitan is used for door panels, seat covers, armrests, knee pads, and the dashboard. It is composed of 78 percent recycled PET, which is derived from plastic bottles. The remaining components consist of 16 percent newly manufactured PET and 6 percent of fibers that are based on old clothes. The fiber mixture is produced without the use of chemicals. The balance between comfort, durability, and sustainability is achieved through careful processing while spinning and warping.

Technofil, on the other hand, consists of 75 percent recycled ECONYL fibers and 25 percent polyester. This innovative material reuses nylon waste such as fishing nets, fabric scraps, and worn-out carpets into new nylon. The material is said to have excellent friction and abrasion resistance and is 100 percent renewable. The fibers can be recycled, reshaped, and spun again at any time without losing quality, according to the promise.
