Effective immediately, around 14,000 car-sharing vehicles from Miles in Germany can now be booked via Sixt share. This makes Miles the first external car-sharing company to be integrated into the Sixt app. In Berlin, Hamburg, Munich, Potsdam, Cologne, Düsseldorf, Stuttgart, Duisburg, Bonn, and Augsburg, Sixt customers can use Miles vehicles such as compact cars, mid-size cars, and transporters from 0.98 euros per kilometer driven. Additionally, there is the usual "Unlock Fee" of one euro applied by Miles.Dr. Kathrin Risom, Executive Director of Sixt share, explained:

“Even today, we are cooperating with various providers to offer our customers full flexibility and variety in their mobility choices. Through the cooperation with Miles, they now gain access to even more car-sharing vehicles.”

Sixt aims to become a comprehensive mobility provider – with one app for everything

With this partnership, Sixt continues to drive the ongoing expansion of the Sixt app into a one-stop-shop for mobility. The app already unites a comprehensive ecosystem of mobility solutions and is actively contributing to the mobility transition: With the core product Sixt rent, customers can rent cars and commercial vehicles, Sixt ride allows for booking taxis or a limousine service, and with the subscription offer Sixt+, customers can get a flexible and monthly cancellable alternative to car purchase or leasing. In addition to vehicles from Sixt and Miles, customers can also book e-scooters, e-bikes, and bicycles from the partner Tier via Sixt share. Oliver Mackprang, CEO of Miles Mobility, elaborates:

“Our goal is to make life without a personal car as easy as possible for people. This means that alternative offers like car-sharing need to ensure seamless access to the vehicle and a feeling of comfort. Partnerships like the one with Sixt share help to achieve this goal.”

What does this mean?

For customers, it is clear: The more providers an app unites, the better. This is why the deal between Sixt and Miles could be a win-win situation. Looking ahead, Sixt could theoretically also consider the option of only mediating mobility via the app, without having to maintain any hardware itself in any form.
