The mobility service provider Sixt is cooperating with the manufacturer of electric cargo bikes Onomotion and is incorporating the ONO E-Cargobikes into its commercial vehicle fleet as part of a pilot project in Berlin. Together with Onomotion, Sixt is launching a pilot project that will first be tested in Berlin and then expanded to other German cities.

The project will utilize the so-called ONO E-Cargobikes, which feature a cargo area made of an interchangeable container module. According to the manufacturer, this offers a volume of two cubic meters and can be loaded with up to 200 kilograms of payload. Thanks to weather protection for the driver, they can be used year-round.

According to company information, the drivers are CO2-neutral with an electric drive. With pedal assistance, the electric cargo bikes reach a speed of up to 25 km/h, and with a single battery charge, they are expected to achieve a range of around 30 kilometers.

According to the manufacturer, the batteries are replaceable, so the range can be increased by carrying additional batteries. The cargo bikes are available not only for private customers to transport larger items or bulky articles but also for business customers as an addition to their own fleet, for example, for last-mile delivery at courier-express-parcel service providers or for food transport in cool boxes.

"With Sixt as a strong partner, we want to give even more companies the opportunity to see the benefits of e-cargo bikes as a supplement for urban transport," said Beres Seelbach, Co-CEO at Onomotion.

According to the company, the electric cargo bikes can be rented from a rental period of one day. For long-term rentals, maintenance and service are included in the rental price.

For longer use, individual customization is also possible, for example through exterior branding. Additional batteries can also be booked as well as the delivery of the cargo bikes.

What does this mean?

Sixt has the power to also drive the cargo bike topic - which is now happening with Onomotion.
