Six electric buses of the MD9 electriCity model, produced in Adana, Turkey, will soon be on the streets in and around the Swedish island region of Öckerö near the metropolis of Gothenburg for the local transport operator Connect Bus.

According to Temsa, the 9.5 m long electric buses have a range of 400 km and can accommodate 59 passengers. The Turkish bus manufacturer specifies the battery capacity at 230 kWh and the electric motor power at 250 kW. The battery buses are said to be rechargeable in two hours with a 150 kW charger, and in five hours with a 45 kW charger. Temsa's CEO Tolga Kaan Doğancıoğlu explains:

“I hope that this delivery will be the first step of a long-term collaboration and that it will increase the volume of our exports in the coming days. Other operators in the region also have a demand for our electric vehicles. We are currently negotiating with them. Once our buses are on the streets of the region, they will have the opportunity to get to know these vehicles up close."

In 2019, Temsa established connections with the Swedes in the framework of the International Association of Public Transport (UITP) summit. At this industry event, the Turkish bus manufacturer presented its electric bus models Avenue Electron and MD9 electriCity for the first time.

What does this mean?

Electrification is also picking up significantly at Temsa.
