Shell Recharge Solutions, the e-mobility subsidiary of the oil company, continues to expand and recently announced its participation in the Hamburg-based energy service provider NWG Power and its spin-off NWG Charging. The operator of private charging infrastructure aims to leverage Shell's capital to tackle the rapid growth in charging options for multi-family homes across Germany. This development is based on the e-car boom of recent months and years, according to the company. The goal is now to implement wall boxes nationwide in all multi-family homes and thus drive forward the mobility transition.

While energy companies like Shell are building a charging network in Europe, NWG’s solutions make it possible to have convenient access to a personal charging station at home, the provider outlines the division of tasks. This is precisely where they want to tie in, to create affordable e-mobility for tenants and meet existing demand. The company's technological openness and focus on user-friendly, individually tailored solutions in a "otherwise complicated" segment should make this possible.

“We are flexible and able to offer the right charging options for a wide variety of applications, and this applies to tenants, landlords, and homeowners alike,” explains Bernhard Rönsberg, co-founder and managing director of NWG Power.

They see a huge hurdle in charging options, especially in European cities. There, private parking options are scarce, and dependency on public charging stations is high, according to Rönsberg's analysis.

“Only if we ensure that e-mobility is practical and affordable can we play an important role in the energy sector transition,” adds Per Pöhl, also managing director and founder of the Hamburg-based company.

Clean transport is essential for the future and affordable, accessible charging options are important, adds Roger Hunter, Global Vice President, Shell Recharge Solutions. NWG offers an intelligent solution that closes the infrastructure gap in multi-family homes.

"Together, we can meet the increased demand for affordable e-mobility among tenants,” believes Hunter.

Beyond NWG Charging, NWG Power also offers tenant electricity in conjunction with charging infrastructure. With scalable solutions, the company relieves property management and real estate owners.

“We are the interface to the grid and control electricity consumption in the properties,” explains Pöhl. In combination with charging, the energy service provider thus implements the energy transition in multi-family houses.
