For the e-trucks, the VW subsidiary also wants to provide the appropriate charging solution - and is cooperating with the hardware specialist EVBox and the energy supplier Engie for this purpose.

The Swedish truck manufacturer Scania has announced a cooperation with the French energy and services group ENGIE and its subsidiary EVBox Group, with which they aim to offer custom e-mobility solutions to transport operators in 13 European countries. Charging facilities are a prerequisite for the electrification of transport, according to the truck manufacturer. For transport service providers in urban and some regional applications, depot charging will be sufficient in many cases. Nevertheless, finding the right charging solutions is a complex matter. For longer distances and with the ongoing electrification, there is also a need for more advanced solutions and charging facilities at end stops and public charging stations, which are currently very limited, as the manufacturer analyzes.

"This strong partnership will make it easier for our customers to transition to an increasingly electrified fleet on the way to a more sustainable transport sector," believes Alexander Vlaskamp, Head of Sales and Marketing, Scania.

The energy group is expected to contribute its international reach through strong local partnerships and offer both the energy system and intelligent, scalable high-performance charging systems through its subsidiary EVBox.

"The electrification of transport is one of the most important initiatives to reduce emissions - especially since transport accounts for almost a quarter of European greenhouse gas emissions," explains Kristof Vereenooghe, CEO of the EVBox Group.

The partnership offers new opportunities for the EVBox Group, and they want to bring in over ten years of experience, expertise, and a competitive offering.

"Scania and Engie share the same vision and ambition to drive the shift towards sustainable transport solutions," propagated Shankar Krishnamoorthy, Executive Vice President of the ENGIE Group.

The European partnership for the mobility of electric trucks and buses is also the result of collaboration in the field of gas mobility. Krishnamoorthy sees a "promising potential" for use in cities and suburban areas. In addition to development, the group will also take on the installation and maintenance of the systems, supported by its own European network of qualified technicians as well as the regional networks of their partners. The right charging solution will greatly influence the range, flexibility, and battery health of an electric vehicle, significantly impacting the overall business economics of customers, Scania's Sales Chief Vlaskamp believes.

"We are on a learning journey with the electrification of heavy transport, and through a partnership like this and close collaboration with our customers, we will find the best way forward together," Vlaskamp further commented.
