Rossmann no longer wants Teslas in the fleet: For political reasons

The drugstore chain is distancing itself from the e-car pioneer because he supports Donald Trump and is also increasingly drifting into conspiracy theories on his network X.

The drugstore chain Rossmann will no longer purchase any more Tesla vehicles for its fleet, effective immediately. This decision is based on the incompatibility between the statements made by Tesla CEO Elon Musk and the values that Tesla represents with its products. In a statement, the company noted that in 2018 Elon Musk was still actively engaged on X (formerly Twitter) against the climate crisis: "Tesla exists to help reduce risk of catastrophic climate change, which affects all species on Earth. [...]". Since then, the company's founder and e-car pioneer has made a radical about-face. Recently, Musk also joined the agitators of the riots in the UK via X, stating that a civil war was inevitable.

"Elon Musk makes no secret of his support for Donald Trump. Trump has repeatedly called climate change a hoax - this attitude is in stark contrast to Tesla's mission to contribute to environmental protection through the production of electric cars," explained Raoul Roßmann, spokesman for the management.

For this reason, the company will no longer purchase Tesla vehicles for its fleet in the future.

The current fleet of Tesla vehicles will continue to be used for reasons of sustainability and resource conservation. However, the company will rely on alternative manufacturers and models for future vehicle orders. According to Manager Magazin, only 34 out of the 800 company vehicles are Teslas. Nevertheless, this is seen as a symbolic gesture. Recently, rental companies Hertz and Sixt had removed the Californian models from their fleets, primarily for economic reasons.
