Rhineland-Palatinate aims to focus more on cycling as an economic factor

The state of Rhineland-Palatinate wants to focus more on cycling as an economic factor. Almost one in ten bicycles in Germany is assembled in the state, announced Minister of Economic Affairs and Transport Daniela Schmitt. This was revealed by a study on the industry commissioned by the ministry. According to this study, more than 2,500 employees worked in bicycle trade and manufacturing in Rhineland-Palatinate in 2022, and the combined revenue of the companies is nearly 1.4 billion euros. Added to this is bicycle tourism, where the study by the Institute for Work and Technology of the Westphalian University of Applied Sciences in Gelsenkirchen and the Berlin T3 Transportation Think Tank gGmbH identified 16,000 employees and a revenue of just under one billion euros.
