Starting immediately, two electric trucks can be ordered from Renault Trucks: firstly, the E-Tech T, which is supposed to be suitable for regional long-distance transport, and secondly, the E-Tech C for construction site traffic. According to the manufacturer, they are now a full-range provider of electric trucks ranging from a 2.8-ton light commercial vehicle (LCV) to a 44-ton long-distance truck. The new E-Tech T and C series are available, according to the company, with either 330 kW (450 hp) or 490 kW (666 hp) and feature the Optidriver transmission. Energy supply is achieved with up to six lithium-ion battery packs, allowing for up to 540 kWh of battery capacity. Charging is possible via direct current (up to 250 kW) and alternating current (up to 43 kW). The new electric vehicles can be equipped with three different types of power take-offs (PTO). In addition to an electric connection to the high-voltage system, for example for refrigeration units, an electromechanical power take-off and various transmission-side power take-offs are available.
This would allow body manufacturers to connect hydraulic pumps, compressors, or other units without having to develop elaborate solutions for the vehicles. The permissible total weight of the new models is up to 44 tons. According to Renault, in addition to 4x2 and 6x2 tractor units, 4x2, 6x2, and 8x4 tridem chassis are also available from market launch. Production of both new models takes place at the Renault Trucks plant in Bourg-en-Bresse (France).
German Premiere
The first E-Tech T in Germany, according to the manufacturer, goes to Rotkäppchen-Mumm Sektkellereien GmbH and is to take over transport services between the plant and warehouse in Freyburg (near Leipzig) in the future. The electric models of the heavy series are set to celebrate their German premiere at the Nufam, which takes place from September 21 to 24, 2023, in Karlsruhe. According to its own statements, the manufacturer aims to achieve 50 percent of its sales volume with electric vehicles by 2030.
