Renault Trucks: First Electric Trucks for Construction and Municipalities
The private dealer A+T Nutzfahrzeuge from Garrel, Lower Saxony has taken delivery of the first fully electric Renault Truck in Germany from series production. The D Wide Z.E. 26-ton truck with a roll-off body will serve as a demo vehicle and is intended primarily to show municipalities and agricultural businesses how well electric commercial vehicles can be used in rural areas.
"We are pleased that our long-standing partner A+T Nutzfahrzeuge will be putting this special, first vehicle into service. Brave pioneers like A+T are showing the industry what is already possible in the field of electric freight transport today. And not just in the classic environment of electric trucks, the city, but also in rural areas," explains Jörg Novy, Private Dealer Manager at Renault Trucks.
The three-axle truck is equipped with a lithium-ion battery pack with a total of 265 kWh. Two electric motors together deliver a continuous output of 260 kW (350 hp) and a maximum output of 370 kW (500 hp), with a maximum torque of 850 Nm. The e-truck features a 2-speed transmission. The vehicle is charged via AC charging (Type 2) in an average of 8-10 hours, and it is also suitable for DC charging (CCS) and can thus be charged in under two hours.
Quiet on the Urban Construction Site: Tipper Electric Truck Goes to Noblet
The manufacturer is also launching its first electric truck for construction site use. This first D Wide Z.E. equipped with a tipper and crane will be received by the Noblet Group, which is committed to the energy transition. The rental-specialized company is adding a 26-ton model D Wide Z.E. 6x2 with a steered rear axle, equipped with a tipper and crane, to its fleet. The fully electric vehicle is equipped with four 66 kWh battery packs.
Thanks to its low noise level and emission-free operation, the E-Truck is ideal for access to construction sites, especially in the city or on the outskirts. On construction sites, tasks with cranes or tippers, which do not allow the engine to be turned off, can now be performed emission-free and quietly, the manufacturer continues to advertise. Additionally, using an electric truck on the construction site helps solve the problem of dust being stirred up without a vertical exhaust system.
"Some customers, some cities in the Ile de France, are ready to pay more for certain construction sites if they receive CO2-reduced and, above all, quiet equipment. Moreover, in France, we benefit from the additional renault-trucks.de depreciation, which accounts for a little more than 10% of the purchase price," explains Noblet President Laurent Galle.
The group chose a D Wide Z.E. model with four 66 kWh batteries, which can be charged via AC (Type 2) in less than 10 hours at a 22 kW socket or in less than two hours at a DC fast-charging station (CCS). The vehicle will be charged near the site or at Parisian charging stations adapted for commercial vehicles. A partial charge of one hour (AC / 22 kW) allows for a range of 15 to 20 kilometers, sufficient for urban applications.
