The French Volvo subsidiary Renault Trucks is expanding its range of electrically powered commercial vehicles. The distribution models Renault Trucks D with a total weight of 16 tons and D Wide Z.E. with a total weight of 26 tons can now also be equipped with 66 kWh batteries. Additionally, the Master Z.E. van is now available in a 3.5-ton version, instead of the previous 3.1 tons. The trucks, which were previously equipped with modularly combinable 50 kWh lithium-ion batteries, can now be configured in five setups with up to six battery packs each of 66 kWh. This should enable the Renault Trucks D Z.E. to achieve a range of up to 400 kilometers with a total capacity ranging from 200 to 400 kWh. In the 16-ton version, a 185 kW electric motor (constant power 130 kW) with a torque of 425 Nm drives the vehicle through a 2-speed gearbox. Charging is done with 20 kW AC and 150 kW DC using the CCS system, which is also utilized in the heavier D Wide. Here, the manufacturer installs two electric motors with a maximum torque of 850 Nm; the lithium-ion batteries have capacities of 200 kWh and 265 kWh, enabling a real range of up to 180 kilometers.

With the vans, the Master Z.E. with a total weight of 3.5 tons offers almost 400 kg of additional payload, while maintaining an identical real range of 120 km according to the manufacturer. The charging time for the relatively small 33 kWh lithium-ion batteries is six hours in AC mode with a moderate charging power of 7 kW. The 3.1-ton GVW E-Van is available as a platform chassis or van in three lengths and two heights. The 3.5-ton version is already on the market as a van, and soon the 3.5-ton variant will also be available as a platform chassis or chassis. This allows for new body options such as a tipper body or a larger cargo space with a loading platform, the provider advertises.
