Smatrics has introduced the new Smatrics Direct-Payment-Terminal at Power2Drive in Munich, launching the product in the Smatrics-EnBW fast charging network in Austria. The terminal enables secure and transparent NFC- or card-based payment processing and an uncomplicated integration into existing and new e-charging offers.

“Our Direct-Payment-Terminal is an AFIR-compliant solution for payment and billing during e-charging. Additionally, with this innovative, hardware-independent solution, we offer the highest possible individuality and flexibility, as all services can be covered directly by Smatrics,” explained CEO Hauke Hinrichs.

At all AC and DC charging stations

With the entry into force of the Alternative Fuel Infrastructure Regulation (AFIR) on April 13, 2024, it must be possible to pay with common debit and credit cards at newly constructed public charging stations. The Direct-Payment-Terminal developed by Smatrics can be used at all AC and DC charging stations. The terminals can control multiple charging columns of different types – either directly integrated into the charging station or as a separate stand.

All transactions are comprehensively recorded and archived. This protects data from manipulation, similar to a supermarket cash register. This so-called “fiscalization” makes the solution future-proof on an international level: Currently, fiscalization is a legal requirement only in Austria, while it is currently suspended in Germany.

As a white-label solution, the terminals can be seamlessly integrated into the corporate identity of the respective company. There is also the possibility to centrally manage and individually adjust the tariffs for different locations and charging points.

Pay in a Flash

For E-car drivers, charging becomes more transparent and easier: The price per kilowatt-hour is visible at the terminal. During the charging session, a live view additionally offers a price calculation. End customers can pay at the terminals with all common cards like Visa or Mastercard, as well as NFC-based mobile payment solutions like Apple Pay and Google Pay. The invoice is then transmitted as a digital receipt in the form of a QR code directly to the smartphone or to a specified email address.

All-Inclusive Package

Smatrics cooperates with TeleCash for the direct payment terminals and offers all services in one package: from hardware including delivery and setup to ongoing operation and billing service.

"A modern e-charging infrastructure gives our customers a competitive advantage. To best support this, Smatrics offers an 'All-Inclusive Package' to ensure satisfaction on both the operator and end customer sides," said Hinrichs.

The first terminals are already in operation at the following locations:

  • Burgenland: Neusiedl BT2 and Billa Müllendorf
  • Lower Austria: Bauhaus St. Pölten
  • Upper Austria: Billa Inzersdorf im Kremstal and Billa Plus Mürzzuschlag
  • Salzburg: Billa Mattsee
  • Styria: FMZ Mühldorf bei Feldbach
  • Vienna: Verteilerkreis Favoriten and McDonald's Margaretengürtel

Further locations are in preparation.
