Power2Drive 2023: One Million Electric Cars Provide Tailwind
Tailwinds for the industry are seen by the organizers of next year's Power2Drive trade fair as part of the alternative energy fair The Smarter E Europe, which will take place in Munich from June 14 to 15, 2023. The e-mobility sector is booming, and the target of "one million EVs (Battery Electric Vehicle, BEV) will likely be reached in Germany by the end of the year," announced Solar Promotion GmbH. The European Union (EU) will surpass the three million mark, according to a projection based on the latest figures from the Federal Motor Transport Authority and the European Alternative Fuels Observatory (EAFO), the organizer points out. According to EAFO, in addition to Germany, France with approximately 750,000 BEVs, as well as the Netherlands, Sweden, and Italy are among the top EU countries.
Electromobility is the key to climate-friendly mobility and many innovations, the organizer states, referring to a study by the University of the Bundeswehr (UniBW) Munich. Battery electric vehicles have by far the best greenhouse gas balance when, for example, they are operated with the standard electricity mix common in Germany. In addition, EVs with their energy storage systems could, in the future, offset fluctuations in solar and wind power, thereby supporting the expansion and market integration of volatile energy sources, according to the consensus. Performance and range improvements in BEVs, Europe-wide funding programs, and the expansion of the charging infrastructure are fueling the ongoing boom. The sub-fair also wants to benefit from this and points to great interest internationally, significantly expanding its offerings.
Two Test Drives in 2023: "Test Drive eCar or lightEV"
The focus of the European trade fair Power2Drive Europe remains on charging systems, electric vehicles, drive batteries, and mobility services. However, they also want to appeal to the professional audience with test drives at the "eCar Test Drive" area directly next to the exhibition halls. Additionally, the new "Light Electric Vehicles (EV) Test Drive" will offer test drives with electric vehicles for last-mile and daily use in the commercial vehicle sector, such as small agile transporters and cargo bikes.
Submissions for the Power2Drive Conference
At the accompanying Power2Drive Europe Conference on June 13 and 14, 2023, experts will present market trends, analysis and research results, as well as innovative projects in the fields of e-mobility and charging infrastructure. The following topics are of interest for the English-language Power2Drive Europe Conference: Electric Vehicle and Charging Market Outlook, Best Practice Charging Infrastructure, Bidirectional Charging and Vehicle2X, E-Mobility Data Analysis, Electrification of Fleets, Zero Emission Challenges, and Interaction of BEV, Charge Point Operator (CPO), and E-Mobility Provider (EMP).
Premiere for Power2Drive AWARD
The application phase for the premiere of the Power2Drive AWARD has also begun: Until March 17, 2023, companies and organizations can apply with innovative products, services, and business models in the areas of charging infrastructure, electric vehicles, vehicle-related photovoltaic solutions, and mobility services. An international jury of industry experts will evaluate the applications. Finalists and winners of the award, which will be presented for the first time next year, will receive public attention. This adds another category to the established AWARD format. The award will be presented on June 13, 2023, at the International Congress Center (ICM) Munich – on the eve of The smarter E Europe 2023 – on a grand stage.
