Power2Drive 2023: ADS-TEC Energy is focusing on battery-based HPC chargers

With the ChargeBox and ChargePost models, also supplied for partner JOLT, the Nürtingen subsidiary of the energy technology group relies on combined storage-charger systems that can be installed without connection to medium voltage. Cross-sector use also as a buffer during peaks.

At Europe’s largest energy industry forum “The smarter E Europe” (June 14 to 16) with four trade fairs Power2Drive Europe, Intersolar Europe, ees Europe, and EM-Power Europe in Munich, the energy specialist ADS-TEC Energy, which is also based in Germany with development in Nürtingen and production in Dresden, will present a variety of storage-based platform solutions at two booths. In the field of e-mobility, the new ultra-fast charging systems ChargeBox and ChargePost will be the focus at Power2Drive Europe.

“With our intelligent storage platforms for ultra-fast charging, ChargePost and ChargeBox, we enable the expansion of fast-charging infrastructure in power-limited distribution networks, for example in inner cities. Additionally, our industrial storage platforms PowerBooster and StorageRackSystem offer scalable large-scale storage systems as flexibility for self-generated energy from sustainable sources. All our showcased platform solutions thus contribute to a sustainable and stable energy supply and accelerate the decarbonization of the energy industry,” explains Thomas Speidel, CEO of ADS-TEC Energy.

The battery storage-based ultra-fast charging solutions feature an integrated battery storage including the most efficient power electronics as well as two ultra-fast charging points. ChargePost offers electric vehicles a charging power of up to 1 x 300 kW or 2 x 150 kW and enables the provision of storage capacities for feeding self-generated energy, for example through the integration of a PV system, and is also prepared for grid services and bidirectional storage operation. In addition to the battery storage, ChargeBox includes two individual charging dispensers, which can be installed particularly flexibly. The charging power is up to 320 kW at one dispenser or 2 x 160 kW for two parallel charging processes, according to the provider.

Advantage of Easy Installation

Both fast-charging systems are designed to be easily connected to the existing grid – without additional time and costs for grid upgrades. With the platform solutions, ADS-TEC Energy offers its partners additional revenue streams through individual operating models beyond charging. The systems can be linked cross-sectorally on a decentralized basis – not only for use in electromobility but also for buffering peaks of any kind, which arise, for example, in heating and cooling through the operation of heat pumps. Moreover, the bidirectional battery storage of ChargePost can provide further grid services, as the manufacturer further promotes. This allows the storage and feeding of PV energy in the sense of optimizing self-energy consumption, energy trading (arbitrage), peak load shaving, or operating e-charging stations. Additionally, two 75-inch LED displays are available for the additional marketing of advertising space (Digital Out Of Home), which further enhances the business model’s attractiveness.
