Polestar 2 BST edition 270: Dare More Sport!
Edition 270 – this means Polestar will produce only 270 units of the BST Edition 270 exclusively for the markets in Europe, North America, and China. And only 35 units are planned for the German market. The special model is based on the Dual Motor with Performance Package with 350 kW (476 hp), but Polestar is upping the ante with software and chassis upgrades.
“The reactions to the specially modified Polestar 2, which we presented at the 2021 Goodwood Festival of Speed, were fantastic. This feedback made it clear to us that we should bring such a version into production,” explains Thomas Ingenlath, CEO of Polestar.
Lowered – and Special Dampers
The two electric motors and the 78-kWh battery achieve a maximum output of 350 kW (476 hp) and a torque of 680 Nm, coupled with improved responsiveness and sportier dynamics. Modifications to the chassis include a lowering (-25 mm), specially developed 2-way adjustable Öhlins dampers with additional adjustment chambers mounted under the hood, a front strut bar, 20 percent stiffer springs. New black 21-inch alloy wheels and specially developed tires in size 245/35R21 provide the contact with the road. The standard 4-piston Brembo brakes remain unchanged.
A matte black body stripe is available as an option, as well as a matte finish in Battleship Gray. The side mirrors are painted in glossy black. The characteristic Swedish golden details of the Dual Motor Performance Polestar 2 remain, including on the brake calipers, dampers, valve caps, and seat belts. The limited model is available in Thunder or Snow exterior colors and with a so-called Charcoal WeaveTech interior.
Around the Irschenberg
The interior of the Polestar is still very successful. One is surrounded by a Scandinavian cool feel-good ambiance with materials that are pleasing to the touch and visually appealing. The space available at the front is generous, and there is enough room for two adults in the back seat. The instruments are clearly laid out and the operation, including Google navigation, is simple and self-explanatory.
The power of the Dual Motor with Performance Package appeared more than sufficient at 350 kW (476 hp). Thus, the developers only made adjustments to the chassis and software. The Polestar 2 BST edition 270 feels even more settled on the road. You can reach 100 km/h in 4.4 seconds. The acceleration doesn't let up; up to the top speed of 210 km/h, it feels like you're on rails. The chassis is not unpleasantly stiff. The steering and suspension give the driver the confidence of always having control over the vehicle.
The Polestar is not the most efficient electric car. According to the display, our consumption was 25.7 kW – a good value considering the outside temperature was about 4 degrees and we were driving very sportily.
What does this mean?
Of course, even the Single Motor Polestar 2 with 170 kW is sufficiently powered. But the Polestar 2 BST edition 270 is a lot of fun. If you want to get one, you should quickly contact Polestar – the 35 units allocated for Germany are likely to sell out soon.
