Peugeot e-5008: The Spaceship

Even at the 3008 presentation, the 5008 was announced, which remains visually closer to its predecessor than its smaller sibling

The e-5008, as the electric version is called - it will also be available as a hybrid and plug-in hybrid - sits on the STLA Medium platform, extending its wheelbase to 2890 mm and its length to 4790 mm. It is 1890 mm wide and has a height of 1690 mm. Clearly, the interior must again accommodate up to seven travelers, who will, however, find only 259 liters of trunk space, which can be expanded to up to 1,815 liters by folding down the rear two rows of seats. Additionally, there is an 80-liter compartment under the third row of seats. Unfortunately, a frunk is not possible due to the front-wheel drive. Thus, we've outlined the main differences compared to the e-3008.

Futuristic Interior

The 5008 becomes a "spaceship" primarily in the first row, as the front occupants also face the futuristic dashboard similar to the 3008. While the top model boasts a 21-inch panoramic display, the base version starts with two interconnected 10-inch screens. Control is achieved via voice, touch, or the touch toggles, which can be freely assigned.

A total of 40 driver assistance systems are supposed to elevate the safety level to a future-proof standard, with the new feature being the capability for semi-automatic lane changes. Sunshades and a fully functional second row - important for electric vehicles - with seat heating and numerous adjustment options ensure comfort.

Available as Hybrid, PHEV, and Electric

Mechanically, the "large Peugeot" also starts here with a small 1.2-liter displacement: The hybrid delivers 100 kW / 136 PS and could start at just under 40,000 euros in the base model. The e-5008 is available with 157 kW (213 PS) and offers 345 Nm. Peugeot states the consumption of the 157 kW version as 17.7 kWh/100 km according to WLTP. Above that is the 170 kW (231 PS) version with the larger 98 kWh battery. HPC charging always works with up to 160 kW, enabling a charge from 20 to 80% SOC in 30 minutes. AC offers 11 and 22 kW options. This should allow for a WLTP range of up to 660 km, which translates to a real range of 400 plus or minus x.

The top model here is also the dual-motor variant, delivering 237 kW (320 PS), where the 157 kW front motor is supplemented by an 80 kW rear motor.

The e-5008 is also a true Frenchman: Like the e-3008, it is assembled in Peugeot's Sochaux plant, with batteries from the STLA battery factory in Douvrin. Interesting: According to rumors, the new Opel Grandland will be placed between the 3008 and 5008 and assembled in Eisenach.

What does that mean?

Peugeot is further differentiating the e-3008 and e-5008, and Opel might place the future Grandland exactly in between. And we assume that all of them will drive very differently, giving us an idea of the possibilities of the STLA Medium platform.
